Position Summary:
The Pre-Vocational Aide provides appropriate care and treatment in a therapeutic environment that promotes the physical, emotional and behavioral health of each student and assists them in developing adaptive life skills. Pre-Vocational Aides work as a part of a collaborative therapeutic team in directly assisting students with their pre-vocational and job coaching activities. They are expected to establish therapeutic rapport with our students as well as open communications and support among co-workers. The Pre-Vocational Aide is directly accountable to the Pre-Vocational Instructor who provides supervision and training and is a non-exempt, hourly employee.

Duties and Responsibilities:      

  • Perform direct care of all assigned students, i.e., eating, toileting and personal hygiene training; during vocational services both on and off campus.
  • Directly delivers vocational services, incorporating therapeutic services both on and off campus.
  • Transport students to and from classes to job coaching opportunities both on and off campus in a safe and secure manner following state and agency transportation policies. 
  • Assist in providing assigned students with all necessary Pre-Vocational and therapeutic services;
  • Implement student positive behavior support practices utilizing appropriate techniques and forms to monitor, assess and document situations and student status.
  • Implement crisis intervention techniques (CPI) in accordance with policy, procedure and agency training.
  • Develop an understanding of the Mass. Curriculum Frameworks;
  • Provide input to the Pre-Vocational Instructor regarding progress of assigned students during evaluation periods, i.e., annual summaries, six month reviews, and quarterly reports;
  • Assist in providing assigned students with job coaching related duties both on and off campus
  • Assist the Pre-Vocational Instructor with maintaining accurate and current student records;
  • Accept feedback from supervisors, colleagues, and other staff and foster a safe and respectful environment for dialogue and disagreement.
  • Abide by mandates regarding confidentiality and ethics as per federal, state and agency policy and procedures.
  • Attend all staff meetings, and mandatory in-service trainings as required by state licensing and/or Crystal Springs.
  • Cooperate and participate in internal investigations.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisors.

  • Understanding and ability to attend to and complete all required documentation.
  • Ability to assist students with personal care development and maintenance as appropriate.
  • Understanding of client confidentiality regulation and protocols (HIPAA/FERPA).
  • Ability to understand and adhere to licensing regulations.
    Knowledge of policies and procedure for reporting suspected child abuse & neglect.
  • Knowledge of common functional work computer skills.

Working Conditions:
  • Duties are performed indoors and outdoors accompanying residents to various activities, events and appointments;
  • Some duties performed in a rehabilitation pool.
